When you least expect it

Doesn’t it seem like the best nights happen when you least expect–or plan–them? Maybe it has to do with not overly planning things or having too high of expectations. That was certainly true last night in Charlottesville. It started out innocently enough, with some sushi and cocktails with my friend Sarah at Ten. Then we bee-bopped around town for a great Wednesday out.

We stuffed ourselves full with bowls of brown rice and some of the best sushi I’ve had in awhile, including toro, scallop, yellowtail, and avocado rolls. MMmmmm.

Next up: the newly revised Positively 4th Street on the downtown mall. This place used to be a wine bar (Enoteca) but now it has a much broader drink menu as well as a full-service lunch and dinner menu.

Finally cooler weather! Denim skinnies: Gap; "Flight of Fancy" blouse: Francescas; Heels: Nine West; Bag: Kate Spade; Watch: Michael Kors

Unfortunately when we got there I realized that I had left my wallet (under my napkin!) back at Ten so I needed to run back to get it. By the time I returned a cold beer sounded perfect ๐Ÿ™‚ After a few drinks we migrated down to the Corner and to one of my favorite bars, the Virgnian. Let’s just say some craziness ensued ๐Ÿ™‚

What a nice way to get through the middle of the week doldrums!

I’m out today to finalize some dissertation committee stuff (boooring, I know) and then to get in my mid-week mid-length training run ๐Ÿ™‚

Tomorrow I’m off to Charleston, WV for the weekend so that should be fun. And guess what crazy party people? Only one more day til FRIDAY!
